Designing for children allowed me to evoke memories of meaningful spaces, those which infused me with wonder through light, color, texture, scale and smell and stimulated my imagination. I aim restlessly to generate wonder in the hearts of those who will inhabit the places I construct.

This waterfront guesthouse is to be adjacent to its owners’ current main home. It will house social events and serve as the children’s main learning and playing space. The owner’s parameter was for all components to be white, which reflects daylight and amplifies the space.

The kid’s main bedroom is connected to the ground level by a slide, adjacent to the stair. Their waddling pool is proposed as beach-entry type, and is connected to the main interior space by a servery window for events. There is a large white playground located in the front yard, and Poinciana trees surround the playground.

The low hedge maze invites the children to enjoy the outdoors, and a treehouse embraces a palm tree between the new and existing homes. The main bedroom’s balcony is shaded by a canopy of translucent photovoltaic panels.
