xtend+dwell Residences / Hotel is an idea for a habitational unit giving dwellers the ability to make a tangible imprint on the building’s facade at any given time by articulating their own spaces from private to semi private, to communal.
xtend+dwell allows residents in a given building arrangement to slide the extending balcony, -a rehabilitated shipping container housing a naturally ventilated lounging private space- in or out, (and to either side in the case of premium units) expanding or reducing space and views, and creating a dynamic building volume. The operable unit is nestled on a reinforced concrete shell.
